Gæst-1-12: Hi Mads. Is Open Hearts a movie you’d go see yourself?
Mads Mikkelsen: I would, 100% on that one
Mads Mikkelsen: It’s a movie I’m very proud of
Gæst-3-12: Susanne – How was it to work with Mads?
Susanne Bier: He’s fantastic. He’s very demanding though, he wants everything to turn out fine.
Susanne Bier: He’s funny as hell. Really intense. And surprisingly talented.
Gæst-2-3: How long did it take to shoot Open Hearts?
Susanne Bier: Six weeks of recording
Susanne Bier: The entire process of writing and recording took about 7 months.
Gæst-4-13: Was it more fun to play a gay guy or this role?
Mads Mikkelsen: It wasn’t fun on that level
Mads Mikkelsen: It was fun because it’s two different stories
Mads Mikkelsen: I didn’t have any intimate relationships with them in reality, you know
Mads Mikkelsen: So I can’t answer that question!
Gæst-4-12 spørger: Mads, how does it feel to be the guy of every girls dreams?
Mads Mikkelsen: It would be cool if I was in college
Mads Mikkelsen: It’s better to be their nightmare
Mads Mikkelsen: It’s just a normal part of being an actor
Mads Mikkelsen: It’s better THAN to be their nightmare
Gæst-3-51 spørger: Hi Susanne. I’m looking forward to Open Hearts. I’ve only had good experiences with your movies so far. Is there anything new up your sleeve?
Susanne Bier: I’ve got different things up my sleeve.
Susanne Bier: They just hasn’ materialized yet. So I have no idea what the next project will be.
Gæst-1-12 spørger: Hi Mads!! What are you going to do after Open Hearts??
Mads Mikkelsen: Don’t know yet
Mads Mikkelsen: Waiting for the premiere
Gæst-4-68 spørger: Susanne – Why is it always the same actors you see on danish film (Not that they aren’t good or anything)?
Susanne Bier: It isn’t
Susanne Bier: I chose my actors because I found them very good in their roles
Mads Mikkelsen: Ove Sprogøe has made almost 200 movies – I guess no one ask him the same question…
Susanne Bier: It’s more a question concerning how they get there
Kristineblond86 spørger: Hi, I’m a 16 year old girl… I live far out in the country.. I’m dreaming about being a singer or an actor…could you give me some advice?
Susanne Bier: You start
Mads Mikkelsen: Well…. It’s not easy if you live far out in the country
Mads Mikkelsen: But I suppose there’s amateur theaters there as well
Mads Mikkelsen: So all you need to do, is find out what you’re good at
Mads Mikkelsen: Afterwards you can go find a bigger city
Susanne Bier: I believe it’s a good thing to get experiences in life
Susanne Bier: I think it would be a good idea to have tried something else than theater and music
Mads Mikkelsen: Well, that changes automatically….
Gæst-1-53 spørger: Susanne Bier: What attributes do you need to become a good director?
Susanne Bier: You need to be stubborn
Susanne Bier: And you need ambitions
Susanne Bier: What else? Mads, help me!
Mads Mikkelsen: Yeah, you need to be flexible and you need to be able to listen to the people you’re working with
Mads Mikkelsen: You need to make it understandable
Susanne Bier: Yeah.
Mads Mikkelsen: It also helps if you can do some acting yourself
Susanne Bier: Well I can’t.
Gæst-3-8 spørger: Mads Mikkelsen do you find it hard to act like you’re in love with someone you are not ?
Mads Mikkelsen: It’s not harder to act out that you’r in love, than anything else
Mads Mikkelsen: It’s often the private stuff people think are the hardest, but that’s not a rule of thumb.
Susanne Bier: I think the simplest of everyday tasks would be the hardest to act
Susanne Bier: … Going to the supermarket to buy milk.
Susanne Bier: … things, that isn’t loaded with a certain temperature is the toughest
Mads Mikkelsen: We had some walks in Bleeder that we found hard, because we weren’t used to it
Gæst-3-60 spørger: susanne: Is there any actors you dream about working with? except Mads…
Susanne Bier: Robert De Niro maybe….
Gæst-4-51 spørger: how does it feel knowing that you had to kiss a man??
Susanne Bier: I can’t answer that one….. *laughs*
Mads Mikkelsen: Well i can say this…. I’ve found out how important it is to shave
Susanne Bier: *laughs*
Mads Mikkelsen: But that let alone……It felt good.
Susanne Bier : I might say as well: I think it can be surprisingly good.
Gæst-1-72 spørger: Mads———–> Whats the wildest thing you’ve ever done???
Susanne Bier: … especially the part about shaving
Mads Mikkelsen: Absurd, but if I told you what it was, it wouldn’t be as wild – so I’m not telling
drbiowaste spørger: susanne If you didn’t do movies, then what would you be doing?
Susanne Bier: Maybe… I’ve been thinking about becoming a detective…
Susanne Bier: … But then again, an attorney isn’t so bad either
Susanne Bier: … At least the ones you see in movies. Defending the weak.
Mads Mikkelsen: Are you going to have long hair, and a fancy briefcase too?
Susanne Bier: I would dig some really cool suits too.
Gæst-2-46 spørger: Whats the best movie ever made???
Mads Mikkelsen: That’s a tough one – it should be a top 10 since it always changes…
Susanne Bier: Hmm
Mads Mikkelsen: The best one will have to be Taxi Driver
Mads Mikkelsen: There’s a lot going for him, and a lot against him, so there was no way to tell what the ending would be like
Susanne Bier: I get scared when someone says the world’s best movie….
Susanne Bier: … I’ve been educated about what the best movie should be in filmschool.
Susanne Bier: But if I had to decide myself, it would be Deer Hunter.
Susanne Bier: It’s an overall fantastic movie.
Susanne Bier: Mainly because of the entire cast doing something completely fantastic.
Susanne Bier: Let alone the TWENTY minute wedding scene in the beginning of the movie.
Gæst-3-8 spørger: Mads Mikkelsen I only know how you are in the movies, but how are you IN REAL LIFE ???
Mads Mikkelsen: That has to be the same category as before
Mads Mikkelsen: Else I’ll have to lie a little on screen, and generally live life..
Gæst-3-7 spørger: Is it okay for a director to be less compromising when working with a star, than if it was an amateur? How humble is an actor to his boss?
Susanne Bier: Arhhhh
Mads Mikkelsen: Being humble is not something I work with in my life
Mads Mikkelsen: The word is depriving, because it provokes differences among people
Mads Mikkelsen: Nothing good has come out of that, but you need respect
Susanne Bier: I think you have to be uncompromising
Susanne Bier: I feel the same way with the word compromise as Mads feels with humbleness.
Susanne Bier: Compromise is a loose term… Inside the structure of a compromise is also hidden…
Susanne Bier: some gratification directed at the commitment the actors show during the recordings..
Gæst-1-110 spørger: Hi Mads, is it true that you’ll get completely naked in Open Hearts?
Mads Mikkelsen: Yes i will – but not that many times
Susanne Bier: *laughs*
Mads Mikkelsen: I did so too in Shake it All About
Gæst-1-104 spørger:One of the rules of Dogma is that the actors are required to wear their own clothes. How come there’s advertisements in all stores with “Clothes from the movie”?
Mads Mikkelsen: There is?
Susanne Bier: I’m asking myself that as well.
Susanne Bier: That’s because we gave you the clothes. They made the characters themselves, and instead of buying, they had the opportunity to loan.
Susanne Bier: That wasn’t a compromise. They need to have clothes on in all the movies, or else they would be walking around naked.
Mads Mikkelsen: It’s boring to wear the same brand name all the time
Mads Mikkelsen: You get the chance to decide what the character’s going to look like
Susanne Bier: You live by the rules. But I consider it extremely boring to get into that whole rules of dogma movie discussion.
Susanne Bier: It’s a philosophical project that you accept on your own accord.
Susanne Bier: If you didn’t do that, you should just give it all up and make another film style.
Mads Mikkelsen: I could have a long conference on the subject of dogma
Mads Mikkelsen: But it’s always been important to back up the director
Mads Mikkelsen: No need to underestimate that
Susanne Bier: I think it’s more like the shift of one generation to another, than the concept of dogma – not dogma
Mads Mikkelsen: It’s more like the experience of something good
Gæst-1-108 spørger: Susanne -> What do you like best? Soft or hard… Lacorice??
Susanne Bier: I was so convinced the word would be porn…
Mads Mikkelsen: HA!
Susanne Bier: Now i’d better answer that one correctly…
Susanne Bier: HARD
Gæst-1-12 spørger: for susanne!!would you consider Open Hearts your best movie???
Susanne Bier: Possibly
Mads Mikkelsen: I think it is
Gæst-3-77 spørger: Mads Mikkelsen… You got a role that you would just love to play in a movie? Like the ultimate role?
Mads Mikkelsen: No!
Mads Mikkelsen: Definitively not – there’s no Hamlet that’s waiting to come out.
Mads Mikkelsen: There has been plenty of good stuff, so considering the script you get, you try to make the best out of it
groeffe spørger: Mads Mikkelsen —> Of all the movies you’ve been staring, which was the best???
Mads Mikkelsen: Weeeell….
Mads Mikkelsen: This one is close…
Mads Mikkelsen: But the best one – is the one that gave you the best experience.
Mads Mikkelsen: I can’t really say!
potter1988 spørger: Mads….. Why are you wearing that extremely weird cap?
Mads Mikkelsen: Because I have extremely weird hair.
Gæst-2-34 spørger: Whats your favorite food?
Susanne Bier: Chicken – hehehehehe
Mads Mikkelsen: I’d say Thai-food
Susanne Bier: It’s some kind of lemon-chicken that I cook myself
Gæst-4-28 spørger: Mads, do you chat on Jubii? If you do, my username is Mille_mus
Susanne Bier: hehe!
Mads Mikkelsen: I can’t even check the messages on my answering machine, so no
joan1 spørger: When you’re an actor, you’re always willing to go a long way. What’s your limit Mads?
Mads Mikkelsen: It’s a shame I can’t get a better definition…
Mads Mikkelsen: Cinema or on a stage….?
Mads Mikkelsen: I guess it goes as far as to where I can accept the limit myself
Mads Mikkelsen: It’s a really hard one to answer
Gæst-1-119 spørger: Hi Mads… I’m a little curious… What car do you drive?
Mads Mikkelsen: I don’t feel like answering that question ……but it’s gray!
Gæst-1-73 spørger: >>Mads how do people react when they see you on the street???
Mads Mikkelsen: Teenage girls laugh – children wants autographs
Mads Mikkelsen: There is also a lot of people that just stares
Gæst-3-102 spørger: Hi what do you think about sex and stuff?
Mads Mikkelsen: Sex and stuff???
Susanne Bier: Good. I got the answer…..
Mads Mikkelsen: Stuff….. I like a lot of other things as well
Mads Mikkelsen: But when it comes down to it, I don’t really like sex much
Susanne Bier: hehe
coupesavoy spørger: Hi, congratulations with your prizes
Mads Mikkelsen: Thanks!
Mads Mikkelsen: It’s my first prize in my career – thank you!
Gæst-4-51 spørger: susanne- what does it mean to you, if one of your movie gets bad reviews??
Susanne Bier: I get sad or disappointed
Susanne Bier: I hope people will still see it
Gæst-1-46 spørger: Mads>>> Don’t you think it’s weird that there’s 7-8’th graders that wants to have sex with you???
Mads Mikkelsen: Yeah, it’s a scary thought.
Gæst-3-60 spørger: Both of you: what music do you like?
Susanne Bier: A lot of different genres
Susanne Bier: Everything from pop to classics.
Mads Mikkelsen: I don’t have any favorites, I listen to just about everything
Mads Mikkelsen: I like music from the 70s
Mads Mikkelsen: Definitively not pop though
Susanne Bier: I’m a motown lover. I think it’s the greatest.
Mads Mikkelsen: I’m not really that much into music
Gæst-1-98 spørger: Mads Mikkelsen where are you born?
Mads Mikkelsen: I was born in…. Ehhh…. Østerbro
Gæst-3-132 spørger: Mads If you got to decide yourself, would you play a gay again?
Mads Mikkelsen: Luckily, I do get to decide…
Gæst-1-98 spørger: Mads Mikkelsen how many movies have you done?
Mads Mikkelsen: I’ve done 5 movies where I’ve had roles.
Mads Mikkelsen: And 2, where I’ve just been in them
Gæst-3-142 spørger: Hi Mads, I’m going to see Open hearts on friday, what should I look forward to?
Mads Mikkelsen: My new role…
Mads Mikkelsen: It’s a very touching movie
Mads Mikkelsen: There’s no compromises
Mads Mikkelsen: There will be laughs, but they come as conscious elements
Larholm spørger: For Susanne: How do you feel about Mads getting all the questions? Don’t you feel like you’re just standing in his shadow?
Susanne Bier: I got to admit, honestly, i think it’s great to be standing there.
Gæst-2-41 spørger: Would you prefer the nature, or the coffee shop?
Susanne Bier: Coffee shop hehehe
Mads Mikkelsen: I’d love to go to the forest. If there’s a pub nearby
Susanne Bier: *laughs*
Gæst-4-51 spørger: Do you do real tongue-kisses in the movie??
Susanne Bier: *giggles*
Mads Mikkelsen: Well, if you can see that we use tongues – then we do it!
Susanne Bier: Of course they do….
Susanne Bier: Gary Grant and everyone else did too….
Mads Mikkelsen: They did, ha ha
hobn00b spørger: Both: Don’t you think mathematics was a bit boring in school?
Susanne Bier: No.
Mads Mikkelsen: No!
Gæst-1-72 spørger: What’s your worst habit????
Susanne Bier: Coming too late…. !!
Mads Mikkelsen: Cigarette. I keep puffing on, endlessly
Gæst-4-36 spørger: Who got to be an actor first? your brother or you?
Mads Mikkelsen: My brother
superFYR8000 spørger: mads What did you do before you got to be an actor?????
Mads Mikkelsen: I used to be a dancer for 8 years
Dipsyboy spørger: Susanne do you expect Open Hearts to be a success?
Susanne Bier: I sincerely hope so
Susanne Bier: I’m not sure what what i expected to begin with
Susanne Bier: At least, the people who have seen it seems happy with it.
superFYR8000 spørger: Mads do you wipe the toilet seat before sitting down ????? *giggles*
Mads Mikkelsen: No, not really
Gæst-1-139 spørger: both: It was really cool to meet you in Haderslev last friday, it’s good to know you’ve got both feet on the ground… don’t you find it hard to live as normal people when you’re famous?
Susanne Bier: That one’s for Mads….
Mads Mikkelsen: It’s a bit hard to come by
Mads Mikkelsen: I can’t just go swimming, or enjoy myself at a theme park, so it’s a bit tough
Susanne Bier: Mads really do have people assaulting him. There’s so many people trying to make connections with him.
Mads Mikkelsen: It’s almost like being a family member of the whole Denmark
Mads Mikkelsen: And it’s definitively going to be more narrowed.
Gæst-3-62 spørger: Mads do you consider yourself a perfectionist…?
Mads Mikkelsen: A perfectionist sometimes, at other times I’m just messy.
Susanne Bier: To me you’re definitively a perfectionist. If i were to think of you as messy, it wouldn’t have anything to do with your job.
Mads Mikkelsen: Yeah, there’s a couple of situations where I find myself a great perfectionist, but I guess I’m just hard to please.
Gæst-1-119 spørger: You got anything you’re like.. REALLY scared of?
Susanne Bier: I do
Mads Mikkelsen: I don’t think I have any
Mads Mikkelsen: I don’t like flying, but i wouldn’t say that I’m scared.
Susanne Bier: I don’t like to fly either, but I’m really scared when sailing.
Susanne Bier: I keep thinking that I’m out on open ocean, and a storm hits me at night, and i can’t get out. That sort of thing….
Mads Mikkelsen: The premiere is on Friday!
Mads Mikkelsen: The website is:
