Thomas Vinterberg’s The Hunt has won the Nordic Council film prize, the top pan-Scandinavian cinema honor.

Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal) stars in the drama, Denmark’s official entry for the foreign language film Oscar, as a man falsely accused of child abuse.

This is the second time Vinterberg has won the Nordic Council honor, having taken the award in 2010 for Submarino.

A commercial hit at home, The Hunt has sold out worldwide, with TrustNordisk closing deals in all major territories following the film’s world premiere in Cannes last year, where Mikkelsen won the award for best actor.
