Exactly one month after it was first reported that Mads Mikklesen was in early talks to play one of the villains in Doctor Strange, the Hannibal star took part in an extensive MTime interview during which he addressed the possibility of joining the 2016 Scott Derickson-directed Marvel adaptation.
“I know as much as the rest of the world,” said Mikklesen of his Doctor Strange casting. “So far it’s been rumors, so I’m waiting on a phone call.” However, should he get that call from Marvel Studios to join the stellar cast, the Danish actor admitted he would be “Over the moon.” He added, “It would be fantastic to be a part of the Marvel family. I mean, it’s something we all grew up with. We all have our heroes, and Doctor Strange is definitely one of the more interesting things.”
As aforementioned, we still don’t know which Marvel character Mads Mikklesen is being considered for if at all, but we should find out soon especially with Doctor Strange starting filming this November in London. Directed by Scott Derrickson, Doctor Strange stars Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr. Stephen Strange), Rachael McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor (Baron Mordo), with Tilda Swinton (The Ancient One), and the movie is scheduled for release on November 4, 2016.
