The Danish director is very happy that The Hunt has been nominated for an Oscar.

Thomas Vinterberg was nervous to say the least, so it came as a relief, when The Hunt on Thursday afternoon was nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.

“It was a great relief and a great joy. It means a lot to me that the film travels so far in the world and the story also touches people in other countries”, says Thomas Vinterberg.

Vinterberg praise Mads Mikkelsen

The Danish star director give Mads Mikkelsen much of the credit for The Hunt‘s success.

“Mads Mikkelsen is the film and the film is Mads Mikkelsen”, say Vinterberg on his lead actor, who plays an educator accused of pedophilia.

“The fact that Mads is a known star in the U.S. definitely had an impact on the nomination, as they know him from the TV series Hannibal” adds Thomas Vinterberg.
